Meet Dayaalu

"Dayaa" means compassion in Sanskrit. Adding "lu" makes it a verb: to offer compassion. Look closely at what appears to be a simple flower in our Dayaalu logo and find a circle of connected hearts forming a radiant sun. It's the perfect image to illuminate Dayaalu's essential intentions:

  • Offering sanctuary

  • Inviting awakening

  • Deepening practice

  • Supporting healing

  • Fostering spiritual community

  • Cultivating kindness, joy, beauty & peace

  • Living harmoniously

This symbol shows both the heart to heart connection that captures the felt sense of compassion and the radiant presence that draws our hearts together. Cultivating and feeling presence is the spirit of Dayaalu and what inspires all we do. Through compassionate action in the form of teaching, learning, healing and invoking community we create opportunities for this presence to be embodied. We offer daily experiences to both recognize this light in each other and reflect it back as inspiration for our personal and collective growth.

Our Community

The word Satsang literally means to keep company with the truth. It's all about being in community with people who share the desire to learn and grow. At Dayaalu we know that support from others develops strong roots to stabilize us and help us flourish, much like a vibrant tree. From the moment you walk through our doors we welcome and support you to show up as you are and experience the nourishment of our community.

Our community is created through our daily classes, programs and healing offerings and the connections we make as we share these experiences together. We’ve curated a wide variety of opportunities to learn, play, grieve and heal together. Beyond any pose or practice, Dayaalu is a space that welcomes a wide variety of wisdom traditions that guide us home to our hearts. Our intention is to cultivate presence and curiosity so we remember that at our core we are love.

Yoga: A Path for Connection & Healing

From the start, Dayaalu has offered many types of teachings and healing opportunities with the practice of Yoga as a major inspiration. Yoga means union or to connect. These ancient teachings help us to connect to ourselves, to each other and to the source that weaves together all of creation.

Most people in our culture associate yoga with a form of exercise, but it is so much more! Yoga is an ancient science of health and balance for the body, mind and emotions that provides a foundation for compassionate self-inquiry and an invitation to expand our awareness. The many practices of yoga cultivate the courage to be curious about ourselves and guide us through our layers to discover the inner joy that is the true nature of who we are. There are many practices described in the branches of yoga that guide us to connect not only to our physical body but to the subtle energy that animates our body and soul. Dayaalu offers experiences in each of the branches of yoga for a deep and integrated practice.

Nada and Bhakti (Sound and Devotion) - Chanting (mantra) and sound or nada yoga offer powerful practices to center the mind and open the heart. Our kirtan gatherings, yoga classes and sound healing programs and therapies offer rich nada yoga experiences.

Jnana (Philosophy) - Dayaalu honors yoga as an ancient wisdom tradition that guides us individually and collectively to walk the path of life with an open heart so that we can connect deeply to others and to ourselves. There are no beliefs you must subscribe to, nor anything you must affiliate yourself with. Instead, we hope to open a deepening experience. We offer classes and community discussion groups to support the study of this vast wealth of wisdom.

Hatha - Hatha yoga is the branch that includes postures, breath control, cleansing processes and mental concentration. We offer a wide variety of Hatha yoga classes for all levels, ages and abilities. Classes are small and our highly trained certified instructors create a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Raja (Meditation) - Meditation is at the heart of yoga and a meditation practice is a wonderful way to deepen your presence and enhance your life. We welcome you to join us for our weekly community meditation class or one of our in-depth meditation programs.

Honoring Life Passages

Ritual is a vital part of our human experience. However, for many of us it’s become common to find ourselves without meaningful ways to honor our life and seasonal transitions. The combination of Dayaalu’s sacred space, gifted teachers, healers and supportive community provides rich opportunities to bring these experiences into our lives. Whether attending one of our seasonal celebration programs or collaborating with us to customize a private event to honor important life transitions in your personal, professional or spiritual communities, we are here to support this reconnection to sacred cycles. Intentionally honoring thresholds connects us to our collective human journey, as well as celebrating the natural rhythms and cycles that strengthen our kinship with Mother Earth.
