Online Classes
All our online offerings include the words ZOOM and/or LIVESTREAM to distinguish them from our in-person offerings, which are often labeled IN-STUDIO. All of our online offerings are held online via Zoom. After registering online, you will be sent an automated Important Class/Event Information email which includes a Zoom link to join virtually. Please click the link to join 5 minutes early to give yourself time to resolve any tech issues. If you need help, read below for detailed info and troubleshooting help.
Some of our online classes offer both virtual and in-person options for the same class. These classes are listed as IN-STUDIO & ZOOM.
Join Live Classes through Zoom
Approximately 5 minutes before your scheduled class time, open your “Important Class Event Information…” email and click on the ‘JOIN ZOOM CLASS HERE’ link:
If you already have Zoom on your device: you will be automatically added to the virtual classroom (called a Zoom meeting)
If you do not already have Zoom on your device, a few different options are possible:
You may be automatically prompted to download Zoom. Go through the download process (should take just a few minutes) and then go back to your email and click the JOIN ZOOM CLASS HERE link again. You will be automatically joined into the virtual classroom.
If you are not automatically prompted to download Zoom, go to www.zoom.us/download where you will find free downloads for any system and device. Then go back to your email and click the JOIN ZOOM CLASS HERE link again. You will be automatically joined into the virtual classroom.
**The most common reason for not receiving the Important Class/Event Information email containing the Zoom link is that you have opted out of receiving some emails from Dayaalu. In your Mindbody Profile, under the section titled "What would you like to hear from us?", please make sure that the "Email" box next to "Reminders and Schedule Changes" is checked before you register. If you are still having trouble, read below for more info. Or, email us at info@dayaalucenter.com.
Troubleshooting In Zoom:
Best Practices:
Your microphone may be automatically muted when you join a class. If you would like to interact before or after class, you will need to "unmute" yourself by clicking the microphone icon on the lower left of your screen. The teacher will make sure everyone is muted before class starts to minimize unwanted background noise.
Unstable Internet Connection/Low Bandwidth (Video or Audio Lag):
The closer you are to your internet router, the better your internet connection will be.
If you are having bandwidth issues, turn off your video to prevent overloading your connection capacity: Go to the bottom left of your screen where you will see the image of a video camera. Click it to “stop” your video. This will prevent others from seeing you, but you will still be able to see the instructor and other students who have their videos turned on.
Unable to Hear:
Make sure the volume on your device is turned up.
Check your Zoom audio settings by going to the bottom left corner of your screen and clicking on the ^ symbol to the right of the microphone icon. Select “Test speaker & microphone” which will guide you to test and adjust audio settings as needed.
Setting Up Your Home Studio:
Consider joining the class 5 minutes early to get your tech and space set-up before class begins. If you receive a “Waiting for the host to start this meeting“ message, this means the teacher has yet to open the Zoom room. Please wait and you will be automatically joined once the room is open.
At-Home Props:
If you don’t have all the props at home that you usually use in the Dayaalu studio, consider these alternatives, or get creative!
Yoga Mat Alternatives: a towel or stiff rug
Yoga Block Alternatives: stack of books, small sturdy cardboard box…
Yoga Strap Alternatives: a belt or scarf
Yoga Bolster Alternatives: bed or couch pillows
